“For too long, our society has shrugged off bullying by labeling it a 'rite of passage' and by asking students to simply 'get over it.' Those attitudes need to change. Every day, students are bullied into silence and are afraid to speak up. Let's break this silence and end school bullying.”

-Congresswoman, Linda Sanchez

ABOUT ME

I would personally like to thank you for taking time to visit my website. I am currently a MFT Graduate Student at Stetson University and in my Internship II experience at La Amistad Behavioral Services. I share a passion for work with youth and adolescents, particularly those having issues with adjustment, negative self-image & cultural exclusion. Upon graduation it is my hope that I may begin working closely with couples, youth/adolescents, & families, serving as an advocate against bullying, a divorce mediator for the courts and a guardian ad litem.                                                                                        -A.P.B

PURPOSE

Statistical evidence shows that:

  • 160,000 kids stay home each day just to evade the bullies.

  • A whole 83 percent of the cases receive no intervention, meaning that they continue happening.

  • Children who bully, and those who are bullied, are at greater risk of suicide. (Barchia and Bussey, 2011).

My reasoning for this website is to assist in fostering positive environments, promoting healthy relationships, and ending violence in the lives of children and youth.

Additionally, I hope to educate parents, guardians, educators, administrators and the like on the prevalence of bullying and better ways to address the issue when working with youth/adolescents.

FUTURE PROJECT

In the near future, I plan to expand my work in the fight against bullying by advocating for bullying prevention policies in schools and throughout the community. I will start in the Hillsborough County area by staffing a local support group for children and families who have fallen victim to bullying.

WELCOME!
